Soper Hall
Soper Hall, Harestone Valley Road, Caterham, Surrey, CR3 6HY
Since opening in 1912 the Soper Hall has has many uses - mainly as the offices of The Warlingham & Caterham Urban District Council, but also as a Control Centre during WWII. Explore the parts of the building not usually accessible to the public - including the 'Secret Cold War Bunker', meet 'Mr & Mrs Soper' and enjoy free drinks whilst viewing our '100 years of Soper Hall' timeline, which will include lots of fascinating information and wonderful old photographs of times gone by. East Surrey Museum will help us recreate the 'bunker' Control Centre with some of their many artefacts.
There will also be children's activities and you'll be able to meet some of the many local history groups who cover our area, including the Bourne Society whose archives contain a wealth of fascinating local history.
The day will be part of the Caterham Valley Heritage Open Day Trail, which will include East Surrey Museum which is a 2 minute walk away, with free 3 hour parking close by.
