South Chapel- Grade II listed Mortuary Chapel
Odiham Cemetery, King Street, Odiham, Hook, Hampshire, RG29 1NH
There are two mortuary chapels in Odiham Cemetery – the north for non-conformists and the south for Anglicans.
It was Initially proposed that an elaborate chapel for the Anglicans was built and a simpler one for the non-conformists.
This was strongly rejected and two of the same design were built. Inside, the chapels have a simple austere beauty, with
the spectacular roof, attractive tiled floors and simple pews round the walls.
The south chapel will be open for viewing, which includes a mortuary bier, once used for carrying the coffins.
