Our historic Georgian Spencer Square, Ramsgate, in Victorian times: Vincent's café, tennis tournaments and a Victorian fancy dress competition.

Spencer Square, a beautiful Georgian square, is the perfect place to take a break and relax in Ramsgate. Stand where Wellington’s cavalry practiced for Waterloo around 1805. Find Van Gogh’s former home at No.11, where he lodged in 1876. We even have links to Spencer Gore, the very first Wimbledon champion in 1877. Spencer Square is maintained by a group of local volunteers.

This year, we will be offering a slice of Victorian everyday life. Dress Victorian and you may win a prize. Watch and play tennis with free tasters, the Spencer Gore Family Tournament and an exhibition clash of champions. Enjoy a cuppa, or something stronger, and great food at Vincent’s café. Donations to FOSS will help the garden grow to be enjoyed by everyone.
