Come and explore these unique seaside gardens created by James Eddels, a successful London hosiery merchant In 1839.

Eddells bought the land from William Minter, a retired shipwright, to make 'The Vale '. He aimed to develop ' superior housing' on a plot that would centre on a generous central garden. Much of his project has miraculously survived intact, but there have been ups and downs in its story since the 19th century. Find out more about the people who have played a part in the history of these special gardens, in an illustrated exhibition for Heritage Open Day.
