One of Macclesfield's hidden gems, St Alban's was designed by Augustus Welby Pugin and is the only church designed by him in the Shrewsbury Diocese. Discover its many lovely features including Pugin's screen, above which are set 15th century German figures restored by Pugin to their original colours. St Alban's celebrated its 200th year of foundation in 2011. A wonderful display was created telling & illustrating the history of the parish, its people, and the church building. The story begins with a small chapel and its development through to Pugin's church and the present day. Come and explore this treasure of a church.
