St Edmund’s Chapel
Priory Road, Dover, Kent, CT17 9RG
This tiny medieval chapel was consecrated by St Richard of Chichester in 1253 in memory of his friend, St Edmund of Abingdon and was probably used as a cemetery chapel for the nearby Maison Dieu. Hidden from view for many years and used as a blacksmith’s forge and workshop, it was revealed when buildings in front of it were destroyed in WW2 bombing. The chapel was restored and reconsecrated in 1968. We regret this venue is not wheelchair accessible. There are 4 steps down to the chapel from street level. www.stedmundschapel.co.uk
