St Giles' Church
St Giles' Church, 10 Woodstock Road, Oxford, Oxfordshire, OX2 6HT
St Giles’ Church once stood outside the city walls, ministering to vagabonds, lepers and those not welcome in the city; it now sits within the city at the end of St Giles’. The church has a chancel roof dated to the mid 13th century and a 14th century font of unusual design. William Juxon was the vicar from 1609-1615 and went on to become Archbishop of Canterbury. During the siege of Oxford (1644-1646) the church was used as a prison and a stable by the King’s forces.
