Our church has stood overlooking the joining of the Thames and Medway for upwards of 1000 years. It is said to have been erected on the footprint of a previous building. We continue to serve our community with weekly services, baptisms, weddings and funeral services. We also create activities throughout the year so the community are involved in using this historic building. Our 'beard-puller' seen on entering the building proper is much commented on. Various items within the building have royal connections and our colour scheme mirrors that connection. There are roman tiles in the walls and recycled items from what was to have been a larger building can also be seen in the walls. We offer a power-point presentation showing our church and village through a hundred years - including items on Army, Navy, Coastguard and Airforce presence in the village of St James, Isle of Grain.
The building is small but - to us - perfectly formed and easily accessible throughout.
