Historic Church with display of local history pictures and expert available throughout the day for information regarding genealogy and local burials. Demonstrations of the historical family records website at 11.am and 2pm.

Kirkheaton Church is set in an attractive setting with a churchyard that contains a nationally significant memorial to 17 children who died in a mill fire in 1818.There has been Christian worship on the site for over 1000 years. The Nave of the Church was rebuilt following a fire in 1888 but the Chantry known as the Beaumont Chapel is from 14th Century and contains significant memorials to the Beaumont family from Whitley Hall .
Richard Horton has done extensive research on the burials in the churchyard and established a very informative website. He will be available throughout the day to assist with research. He will give a demonstration on the use of his website at 11am which will be repeated at 2pm
The event is being organised in conjunction with Kirkheaton History Group.Members will be available to advise on family and local history and there will be a display of village history .
