St Mary's Church Lewisham Open Days
St. Mary's Church, 346 Lewisham High Street, London, Greater London, SE13 6LE
There are plenty of historic features within the church covering many centuries with the grounds of the church allocated to monks by King Alfred in 918. The monks came from St Pieter's Abbey in Gent and established the first church c. 940.
Over the festival period visitors can enjoy tours in the church, either self-guided (using hand-outs or barcode audio links ) or with a personal tour guide into restricted areas of the church which require supervision. These last about 30 minutes and will be available at the start of each hour after the opening time, with the last one at 3 pm.
There are trails around the churchyard for both adults and children. On the weekend dates there will also be extra activities, both inside & outside, as further volunteers will be available. More details will become available as events are confirmed.
