St Oswald's, Thornton in Lonsdale Heritage weekend
St Oswald's Church, New Road, Thornton in Lonsdale, North Yorkshire, LA6 3PB
St Oswald's Thornton in Lonsdale is a Grade II* listed building with a medieval tower and gravestones. Ravaged by fire in the 1930s the main body of the church was rebuilt in local pink sandstone. There will be a special display for our heritage Open Days showcasing research into the local area and people to show that this remote rural area was once touched by the cotton industry as well as the literary and artistic spirit of Romanticism. We particularly welcome visitors who wish to share their own memories of the area in order to build up our store of parish stories.
