St Peter's church, Thornton, a Grade 1 listed, medieval church, listed in Simon Jenkins book, 1000 Best Churches. An exhibition in church entitled 'Historical Thornton', plus local foods for sale on Saturday 13th and a cake stall on Sunday, 14th.

This old and beautiful church, of medieval origin dates from the 13th century and is Grade 1 listed. It holds a unique place in the county, and its contents are of great historical interest. Medieval stained glass, linen fold pews from 1560, a working clock over 400 years old, a mid Victorian organ recently completely refurbished are just a few of its assets. These features survive today because, fortunately, no restoration was carried out during the Victorian era. At Christmas 2019, St. Peter's increased its peal of bells to six.
The church has the back drop of Thornton Reservoir a local beauty spot, and easy walking - a circular walk of approximately 3 miles.
The exhibition will include the history of the church, local history and church events.
On Saturday 13th there will be local produce for sale - honey, beer, cheese, jams and pickles, samosas and unique celebration cakes to order.
On Sunday there will be a celecstion of homemade cakes for sale.
