Discover the Architectural Treasures of Bradgate Park
Bradgate Park, Hallgates, Roecliffe Road, Cropston, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE7 7HQ
Bradgate Park invites you to explore its rich architectural and geological heritage through open access and engagement with the Charnwood Forest Geo Park.
Visitors can walk through the atmospheric ruins of Bradgate House, once the childhood home of Lady Jane Grey, England’s "Nine Days’ Queen", and gain a deeper understanding of the estate’s remarkable Tudor history.
For this day only, the iconic Old John Tower, a well-known Leicestershire landmark, will be open to the public. Normally closed at weekends, this is a rare chance to go inside and learn about the tower’s history and its place in the Bradgate landscape.
The event also shines a spotlight on the geological treasures of Charnwood Forest. Discover how Charnwood’s distinctive stone, among the oldest in England, has shaped both the park’s landscape and architectural developments across the country.
A small trail for children will be inside the Ruins of Bradgate House, encouraging them to explore and learn more about the amazing architecture of this Tudor building.
This is a unique opportunity to explore the historical, cultural, and natural significance of one of Leicestershire’s most treasured sites. We will be joined by Charnwood Forest GeoPark, who will be sharing more about the treasures of Charnwood as part of this day.
