St Thomas' Church, Thurstonland

1. Past record books (including some marriage, baptism and burial records) will be on display and available for perusal
2. Of particular interest will be the original stained glass window, designed by William Wailes (one of the 19th Century most noted stained glass
designers) in 1870, depicting the parable of The Good Samaritan, which has recently been fully restored and the stonework renovated -
there will be a display showing how this intricate work was carried out
3. The arch braced hammer beam roof structure and en-caustic tiles in the Chancel , which were personally designed by William Swinden Barber
4. The original pipe organ with hand painted pipes, made by Kirtland & Jardine in 1870 which is in full working order. It fits into the organ arch
which was specifically designed to accommodate it dimensions
5. The original 1870 carved oak pulpit on its carved stone plinth
6. Information boards showing the local public footpaths and railway, and the parish connection to the former Storthes Hall Hospital
7. Information on how the village has links to the creation of the toll road from Oldham
8."Tommy's Trail" - a guide around the church for children
9. A painting by renowned Maltese artist Carl Orsini depicting Jesus with Thomas the Apostle, which hangs in the Chancel

11. There are a number of Commonwealth War graves in the churchyard & a Storthes Hall Hospital Memorial Plaque
