Standen's Exhibition: Benevolent Beales
Standen House and Garden, West Hoathly Road, East Grinstead, West Sussex, RH19 4NE
Explore Standen House and Garden for our free open days. An Arts & Crafts family home with Morris & Co interiors set in a beautiful hillside garden.
Discover the women behind the legacy of care and community at Standen.
Step into the world of the Beale family women and explore the remarkable contribution they made to charitable causes, both locally and nationally. Inspired by the National Trust's 'Women In Power' theme, this special exhibition shines a light on the compassion, dedication, and community spirit of the women in Standen. This exhibition is curated and run by the Volunteer Archive Group at Standen. Not to be missed, it features a selection of family archives documents and objects which are not usually on public display.
Fri 18th and Sat 19th September. Free entry to the exhibition, house and garden.
Eat, shop & stay:
The barn cafe offers a range of lunches, snacks and freshly made cakes. Some are made from the produce of the kitchen garden. The shop offers plants, Morris & Co gifts, textiles and ceramics. There is a second hand bookshop and also a holiday flat in the grounds.
