Stourbridge Quaker Meeting House

2 Scotts Road, Stourbridge, West Midlands, DY8 1UR

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

The Stourbridge Quaker Meeting House, built in 1689 is one of the oldest buildings in Stourbridge and was purpose built on a plot of land Quakers paid 300 Pepper Corns for. It has been a place of Quaker Meetings and gatherings ever since.

We will show and tell visitors about the history of our purpose built 1689 Quaker Meeting House, with its original structure and many fittings still in place. Learn about the first Quakers in this area, and see some of our seventeenth century books!
There will be two exhibitions: one on the architecture and maintenance of our historic Grade II Listed Meeting House, and another showing how the town of Stourbridge is linked to many places across the world, ranging from Uganda to Russia, Nepal and the Americas, through the concerns and activities of our members.
For families visiting us, we have a very lovely garden and a friendly children's play room with many toys and books, as well as baby changing provisions.
All our visitors will be offered refreshments.
