In 1905 the building that is now Pontefract Museum opened to the public as a Carnegie library.
Join us for an illustrated talk and learn about how Pontefract Museum has changed in the 120 years since the building opened.
See some of the earliest objects collected by the museum, plus intriguing archive images, drawings and photographs.

Pontefract Museum is a beautiful art nouveau building right in the centre of Pontefract where you can find out more about the rich history of the town and Castle Highlights include the Ackworth Hoard found buried in a garden in Wakefield, Britain’s first ever ballot box, and the history of liquorice in Pontefract.
