Heritage Open Days at Towner: Talk - Alderman John Towner and the Towner Bequest
Join Kevin Gordon, of The Friends of Ocklynge Cemetery, as he delves into the life and legacy of Alderman John Chisholm Towner, whose bequest of 20 paintings ‘to create a gallery for the people’ started the Towner collection and the subsequent establishment of Towner Art Gallery in 1923. The talk will include a brief visit into the art store at Towner to view the paintings in the original bequest.
