Tattershall Castle
Tattershall Castle, Sleaford Road, Tattershall, Lincoln, Lincolnshire, LN4 4LR
From the cool hush of the basement to the soaring heights of its battlements, Tattershall Castle stands as one of England’s most extraordinary medieval treasures. Raised in the 1400s by the powerful Lord Cromwell, this magnificent brick tower was designed to impress—a bold declaration of wealth, status, and ambition rising proudly above the vast Lincolnshire fens for more than five centuries.
Step inside and you’ll find grand hearths, intricate tapestries, and chambers steeped in stories. Yet few visitors realise that the castle’s remarkable fireplaces once sparked a national movement—one that ultimately helped shape modern architectural protection laws.
During this year’s Heritage Open Days Festival, come and uncover these hidden tales for yourself. Wander through history, climb through centuries, and immerse your senses in the life and legacy of this unforgettable medieval masterpiece.
