Taunton Minster's early origins date from the 8th century and has a long history in military and civic life. The medieval church was greatly expanded in 1508 thanks to the prosperous local wool trade. The beautiful nave ceiling dates from this time as did the original church tower (now a faithful Victorian replica) with it's fine stone tracery. There are many beautiful stained glass windows and a fine Father Willis organ.
