The history of the Kent Coalfield started on the site of Samphire Hoe during the first Channel Tunnel - an illustrated talk on the history of the Shakespeare Colliery

The history and development of the Shakespeare (Dover) Colliery on the site is what now known as Samphire Hoe. Colin is the current Chairman of the Elvington and Eythorne Heritage Centre, a heritage representative for Tilmanstone Colliery and the mining community of Elvington, and also a trustee of the Kent Mining Museum and Heritage Foundation.
