Unravel the story of Alexandra's Bedspread a stunning WW1-era quilted textile that helped to fund Loughborough's Carillon. Featuring 500+ signatures from Churchill to Queen Alexandra, Explore this masterpiece at the Generator 19th & 20th September.

Discover the remarkable story of Alexandr's bedspread, a 1920's textile masterpiece created to help fund the construction of Loughborough's Iconic Carillon Tower. Beyond this stunning centrepiece an exhibition will features a collection of historical artefacts related to the bedspread.

Discover Our Story:
While you are visiting the exhibition, we invite you to explore the history of our building. Originally constructed in 1921 as Britons first educational generating station using salvaged equipment from decommissioned WW1 U-boats. The Generator has served as an electrical powerhouse, an art college, and now, a restored community arts centre. Our volunteers will be on hand throughout the weekend to guide you through our journey from industrial site to creative hub, sharing stories of the building's past and our ongoing work to preserve its character for future generations. Talk & Q&A: Saturday 19th at 1930
Join lead researcher Deborah Moxom, on the evening of Sept 19th, for a special talk and Q&A session led by Dr Jill Vincent. Deborah will share her fascinating journey of uncovering the lives behind the signatures from local factory workers and shopkeepers to international historical figures.
