The Carre family of Sleaford
St Denys Church, Market Place, Sleaford, Lincolnshire, NG34 7SH
Visitors and locals in Sleaford may well have noticed the name "Carre" in various places: the Grammar School, the Almshouses and (for the really observant)even arms on buildings in Northgate. They were the lords of Sleaford for much of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and their monuments in St Denys Church tell the story of their wealth, power and influence, as Dr Simon Pawley will explain in his talk.
