Free admission, with costumed guides, to this beautifully atmospheric Victorian house.

The birthplace of writer D.H. Lawrence, and a wonderful example of a late Victorian mining home. The D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum is authentically restored, giving an insight into life during the era and into Lawrence's early life.

The house contains many original artefacts, plus has an exhibition room with many more, including Lawrence's own water colour paintings.

For the Heritage Open Days there will be free self-led access to the whole museum; there will also be knowledgeable guides on hand to give visitors information.
