The Old Grammar School, Ledbury
The Old Grammar School, Church Lane, Ledbury, Herefordshire, HR8 1DN
Discover Ledbury’s Past at the Old Grammar School.
The Old Grammar School is a listed Tudor building where the history of the building and the town provide an insight into Ledbury's past.
This Heritage Open Days week, don’t miss the chance to see stunning replicas of the Herefordshire Hoard—a remarkable collection of Viking-era finds. These intricate pieces are part of “Revealing Our Roots: Unearthing Common Ground,” a project organised and funded by Herefordshire Council, the Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund, and the Museums Association.
You can also explore our newly extended “Street Through Time” panorama, illustrating how Ledbury’s buildings and businesses have changed over the centuries. Discover what trades once stood beside The Feathers on the High Street and where George Brookes, the saddler, worked.
The Old Grammar School itself is a listed Tudor building rich in history. Among our displays is a fascinating photographic image of a multiple-sheet vellum indenture dated 11 April 1665, granting rights to the Lordship and Manor of Ledbury during the reign of Charles II.
