Over its almost 250-year history, The Piece Hall has been home to the weird, the wonderful & the fantastical. Join us for guided tour with one of our knowledgeable heritage guides who will delve deeper into The Piece Hall’s captivating past.

For this year's Heritage Open Days Festival, join us for a free Heritage Tour with one of our wonderful guides!

As you explore its beautiful arcades and courtyard, you'll uncover the stories of the people who built, traded and worked here, and learn how this extraordinary building has evolved from a centre of commerce into the vibrant cultural destination it is today.

Whether you're a history enthusiast, a local resident or visiting for the first time, this free tour offers a fascinating journey through the heritage, architecture and enduring legacy of one of Yorkshire's greatest treasures.

For little ones, we will also be holding crafting sessions on the courtyard. Our aim is to doodle a Halifax version of the Bayeux Tapestry using images from Halifax's history!

Directions:
By Car: From the M62, exit at junction 24 and follow signs for Halifax (A629) and the brown tourism signs to The Piece Hall. By Rail:The Piece Hall is just five minutes walk from Halifax Railway Station. When leaving the railway station, cross over the road and head directly up Horton Street. Take a right turn just after Railway Hotel on to Blackledge. You will then see The Piece Hall South Gate entrance. By BusThe Piece Hall is approximately five minutes walk from Halifax Bus Station with regular services from across West Yorkshire. Exit the bus station by the Metro shop, turn right and continue upwards towards Wade Street. Turn left along Market Street and continue along past the row of shops. When you reach the corner, turn left and you will see the West Gate entrance to The Piece Hall.

Accessibility details

The Piece Hall has a fully accessible lift available at the South and West Gates. Please note that the manoeuvrability access at the North lift is restricted. Wheelchair accessible toilets are available at The Piece Hall, all of which are gender free. Details on nearby Changing Places accessible rest rooms can be found on our website. The Piece Hall is an historic building and as such there are some un-even surfaces. We ask that you take care when moving around the building. Should you have any questions please ask a member of staff.
