The Pulborough Heritage Trails - revealing Pulborough's past and some of its iconic buildings of the last 800 years

The Macklins visitor centre has leaflets on each of the trail, a 16 foot long model of the station as it was in 1910 with a related video of trains using the shunting yard, displays of some of the buildings and places on each of the walks and some local artifacts relevant to Pulborough's past.

The "Rolling Back the Years Trail" starts you from the old bridge across the River Arun with its history and then shares the commercial history of past and present history of this area known as Swan Corner which was in practice the "Service Station" of horse-drawn transport with food and drink, accommodation, a blacksmith, a saddler and stables. The trail moves on to visit the Masonic Hall and areas of former commercial and manufacturing alongside the river to the 1850's railway station , with its cattle market, shunting yard and to visit the recently restored signal box.

The "Iconic Buildings of the last 800 years Tail" starts at the 800 year old Parish Church of St Mary which is a five minute walk from the station.
Here you follow self-guided tours of this Grade 1 listed building and also the graveyard. You can obtain refreshments here. You then cross the road to the restored 1700s Old Rectory which has a great history of important visitors and magnificent gardens.
From here you walk five minutes to an amazing 21st century building featured in the Grand Designs TV programme
