Housed in a beautifully converted Victorian herring curing works, Time and Tide Museum of Great Yarmouth Life offers an immersive experience where history lingers in the air - along with the unmistakable aroma of the smokehouse.

Step back in time and uncover Great Yarmouth’s story, from its Ice Age origins to the present day. Explore the town’s once-thriving fishing industry and the lives of those who made their living from the sea. Wander through a recreated Victorian Row and step inside a fisherman’s home, soak up the atmosphere of a 1950s quayside, take the wheel of a coastal steam drifter, and hear gripping tales of shipwrecks and daring rescues on the high seas.

With special exhibitions running throughout the year, there’s always something new to discover.

Time and Tide is an unforgettable adventure that will leave you with a deeper appreciation of Great Yarmouth’s unique place in history.

Time and Tide is located on Blackfriars’ Road, a 10 minute walk from the seafront, via St Peter’s Road. It’s a 5 minute walk from the historic South Quay, Elizabethan House and Tolhouse Gaol and roughly a 15 minute walk from the train and bus stations.
