Join us for a special event at a limekiln in the picturesque Peak District village of Butterton.
We're passionate about preserving our industrial heritage, and this event is all about how one important limekiln has recently been restored thanks to a Defra funded Farming in Protected Landscape grant. It's a unique opportunity to learn about the history and significance of this structure and others like it.
Our knowledgeable cultural heritage volunteers will be on hand to tell you all about it and share fascinating insights into the challenges faced in conserving these historical treasures.
Parking is in Butterton Village by the church. Walk from here down Pothooks Lane over the ford until you see our volunteers, who will be ready to welcome you! The limekiln is located at NGR: SK 07548 56121. You'll be surrounded by stunning natural beauty whilst learning about one fascinating aspect of our industrial past.
