The Wellington Monument is the tallest three-sided obelisk in the world. The striking landmark recently restored sits on the edge of the Blackdown Hills. Climb the 232 steps for panoramic views of the Devon and Somerset Countryside.

Following restoration in 2022, Wellington Monument was opened to the public for the first time in 20 years. We are offering free tours for one day only on Wednesday 16th of September 10am - 4pm.

Learn about the history of the monument from our knowledgeable volunteers before embarking on a journey to the top of the spiral staircase.

This is a drop in event, you may need to wait for a slot, due to the narrow staircase only three people can ascend at once. We strongly recommend footwear which is appropriate to climb relatively steep stairs and children must be a minimum of 1 metre tall, under 18's must be accompanied by and adult. There is a 10 minute walk from the car park to the monument, full accessibility information is available on our website.
