In addition to the permanent displays in the Museum, there will be a special exhibition highlighting the various industrial firms that have existed in Wellington over the years. This will include recordings of experiences told by former employees.

Wellington has a significant industrial past and, although much of it has disappeared, the experiences and memories of working days of former employees were recorded several years ago as part of an oral history project - "Workers' Tales". The largest number had worked at Fox Brothers, which was the original creator of flannel and for over 250 years supplied high-quality wool, worsted and cashmere fabrics to well-renowned fashion houses and Savile Row tailors. Other major employers were Price Brothers (now Relyon, the bed manufacturer), Walter Gregory, William Thomas and Egerton Burnett. The exhibition will showcase these companies. Various publications related to their history are also available for purchase in the Museum.
