When Adam Delved and Eve Span

Wool was at the heart of Farnham’s medieval life. The Bishop of Winchester owned huge flocks of sheep as did the Cistercians at Waverley Abbey. Farnham wool was not only spun locally but it was also exported via Calais where, in the 15th century, the Mayor of the Staple was a Farnham man.
The Rt. Revd. Christopher Herbert will explore this fascinating subject.
