45 High Street, Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire, YO16 4PR
There is a display based on his life and works in the Gallery. There are details of the style that he created and illustrations of his architecture and landscape architecture. He was one of the first Architects who not only built significant houses but also designed the interiors, furniture and fittings for them. He also designed the landscaped gardens both formal and informal, the ones at Rousham are almost as he created them. His father, William Cant, was a Joiner who lived and worked in Bridlington and sent his son to the grammar school in the town. William Kent was patronised by Richard 3rd Earl of Burlington, he became one of the most fashionable designers in England. This in turn led to work at Stowe, Chiswick House, Horse Guards Parade, Kensington Palace interiors, the Royal Mews, Houghton Hall and the Assembly Rooms in York as well as Rousham House and Holkham Hall.
