The first annual Wolverton Canal & Rail Festival! Visit the floating market on the canal over the weekend. On Sunday the festival expands to Wolverton Railway Sports ground with arts & crafts, stalls, music, talks, food & sports activities to try.

Wolverton Canal & Rail Festival celebrates Wolverton and Milton Keynes unique Canal and Rail heritage and the community that live here. Learn about canal workers since the 19th century, and how the canal brought the railway to Wolverton. A Memory Lane stall invites people to share their memories of the canal and railway.
The floating market, organised by Roving Canal Traders Association, is on the canal on both days, with crafts and trading canal boats. Electra Talk & Glide – 60 minute cruise with talk on the canal.
Volunteering and information stalls; Inland Waterways Association, the Bedford & Milton Keynes Waterway and Buckingham Canal Society will be next to the towpath.
On Sunday the festival gets into full swing and the Railway sports ground at Lonsdale, Wolverton Park welcomes a range of stands, activities.
from local traders, Cycling Citizens MK, Inland Waterways Association, Wild Over water, MK Beergarten, Canal & Rivers Trust and more! Purchase food from our street food stalls or bring a picnic and enjoy live music, talks and more.
There is no car parking on site. Please use the pedestrian bridge over the canal from Stratford Road, Wolverton. Wolverton Railway station is approx. 5 minutes walk (0.2 miles) from the festival.
It’s going to be a great family day out celebrating our industrial heritage. So grab a picnic and head over to Wolverton Park. We look forward to welcoming you! Pop in for an hour and visit the other heritage events on over the weekend.

Directions:
Pedestrian entrance is via the old railway buildings from Stratford Road, across the canal bridge and into Wolverton Park. No vehicles are permitted into Wolverton Park, please use car parks in Wolverton centre and walk to the event. Or come via train, Wolverton Railway station is a 5 minute walk from the festival!

Accessibility details

he access to the event involves steps to get into Wolverton Park Estate and to the footbridge across the canal to get to the event area. The event takes place on the Grand Union Canal towpath (firm surface covered in golden gravel, 1.2metre width) and in a sports ground grass covered area, with one surfaced path that loops round the whole field. The pedestrian access from Wolverton (and railway station) involves steps and a slightly sloping path to get to the Railway Sports ground entrance.

Additional information

Visitors do not need to pre-book to attend the festival. Pre-booking is only required for Electra cruises along the canal. Tickets available online form 1st August 2026 https://www.bmkwaterway.org/electra/ Talk & Glide – a 30 minute talk on local canal heritage as part of a 60 minute cruise on an all-electric boat through parts of Wolverton parish.
