Come and explore the fascinating site of Gressenhall and get a feel for what life was like in the workhouse. See the new temporary exhibition and take part in activities across the site.

Come and explore Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse, a family friendly museum and farm set in the rural landscape of the Norfolk countryside. With over 50 acres to explore there’s lots to see and do! Learn about the lives and treatment of some of the poorest people in Victorian society in our Voices of the Workhouse exhibition. With a mix of objects from the workhouse and interactive displays, you will find out how workhouses played a role in the care system. Housed in the Museum of Norfolk Rural Life, get up close and personal with preserved farm machinery, rural collections and steam engines. You can also take a stroll down to our heritage working farm to see our rare breed animals, including our 6 Suffolk Punch Horses. Learn about the history of farming and take in the beauty of our 50 acre site on a trailer ride. Go behind the scenes in our Norfolk Museums Collection Centre where objects from across the county are stored and cared for. Rest and treat yourself in our Mardlers Rest Café, serving a selection of hot and cold refreshments and museum gift shop.
