Leeds Jewish Housing Association – 70 Memories for 70 Years

Address available upon booking!, Leeds, West Yorkshire

‘Leeds Jewish Housing Association – 70 Memories for 70 Years’ will take the form of displaying 70 historical memories from the last 70 years.

In October this year, Leeds Jewish Housing Association celebrates its Platinum anniversary. We want to celebrate the people, places and achievements over the last 70 years, representing the diversity of our residents and the community in which we have been situated. We have collected a vast number of historical materials over the past 70 years, including annual reports, financial ledgers, resident magazines, photographs, objects, and a variety of miscellaneous materials donated by former residents or their families. ‘Leeds Jewish Housing Association – 70 Memories for 70 Years’ will take the form of displaying 70 historical memories (whether the original or a copy depending on its condition) from the last 70 years. These will be selected carefully in order to convey a sense of how the organisation has been transformed over 70 years, and made an impact not only on the Jewish community in Leeds, but on North Leeds more broadly. The project will complement an ongoing oral history initiative – ’70 Stories for 70 Years’ - in which 70 people connected with the past, present and future of Leeds Jewish Housing Association are being interviewed. At our event, each of the 70 memories will be displayed on a board or table. We will use our event as an opportunity for people to donate or lend any historical materials that they might have in their possession.

This event took place in September 2023 and the entry is now archived.
