St Mary’s Church, Walton-on-Thames
St. Marys Church, Church Street, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, KT12 2QS
Come along and visit St Mary’s - Walton’s wonderful medieval church! A amazing building bursting with history. We’ve put together a guided, or self-guided, tour of the church so you can learn all about it. There’s even an option to take a fun quiz at the end about what you’ve learnt.
If you’re feeling energetic, there’s a unique opportunity to go up into the ringing chamber to see how a bell is rung! (no unaccompanied children). If you liked the climb, take the option to keep on going up to the top of the bell tower, past the eight bells, and enjoy the best view of Walton for miles!
Down in the church we’ll also have the registers of baptism, confirmation and marriage - dating from early 20th century to date - available to inspect, plus information on the town’s involvement in the First World War, including casualties from Walton and New Zealand.
This event took place in September 2016 and the entry is now archived.
