In 2018, Heritage Open Days will celebrate ‘Extraordinary Women’, widening the spotlight beyond those who are already recognised and championed.
We aim to uncover, acknowledge and reveal the women - workers, pioneers, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters and friends - who have touched lives, are making a difference, have brought about change, at every scale, and left a legacy that should be cherished.
Who is your local community heroine? We want to help you share their stories.
We want to hear from you!
Nominate your Extrordinary Woman by emailing email@example.com
Include as much detail as you can - what made them special and is there an image we can share?
Stage your own celebration
We've created a range of resources that will help you get started with planning your Extraordinary Women event.

Made possible by funding from players of People's Postcode Lottery. Unsung Stories is an annual arts-based strand of Heritage Open Days, focusing on aspects of heritage that have been overlooked or pushed to the sidelines. In 2017, Unsung Stories celebrated LGBTQ heritage through four landmark artistic events. The Unsung Stories Extraordinary Women project is currently being commissioned.
