Mark the 200-year anniversary of Jane Austen’s death by exploring her material world, and that of contemporaries – from a Derbyshire perspective.
Georgian lady antiquary Mrs. Leach is opening the doors of her Academy for visitors to step back in time and revel in remains of the Regency era. Savour a taste of the material that she intends to include within a series of talks, walks, and workshops over the following year.
Absorb yourself in the time of Britain’s best-loved female author, and discover what archaeological studies might tell us about everyday life through this drop-in exhibition of artefacts and ideas of the late 1700s & early 1800s.
Presented by Historical Archaeologist Dr Kirsten Jarrett, who has taught for the WEA, and Continuing Education Departments at the University of Nottingham, Keele University, and University of Oxford.
