1906 Cleveleys Cottage Exhibition Walking Tour
Corner of Cleveleys Avenue and West Drive, Cleveleys, Lancashire, FY5 2BL
In 1906, a local architect and land owner, Thomas Gallon-Lumb, decided that he wanted to try to level the field with Blackpool getting all the limelight.
He allocated some land and asked around 30 builders to build the very best in current house building technologies, fit them out with the latest gadgets and appliances and display them in a "Garden City" environment.
They all survive as they were sold off at the end of the Exhibition and so using an original 1906 catalogue as a comparison, we tour the locality as it is today, as it has now just merged into the leafy suburbs of Cleveleys.
So join us as we "step back in time" by exactly 120 years and visit every plot and discover how much still survives today and what legacy Mr Lumb gave to Cleveleys and the area.
