Explore the stories behind the memorials at the Fylde Memorial Arboretum on this guided remembrance walk. Discover the significance of the site and learn about Blackpool’s role during the World Wars.

Visitors are invited to join a guided remembrance walk through the peaceful setting of the Fylde Memorial Arboretum and Community Woodland as part of Heritage Open Days.

During this relaxed walk, participants will explore the memorials located throughout the arboretum and learn about the stories, service and sacrifice they represent. Guides will share the background to the site, the purpose of the arboretum as a place of remembrance, and the significance of the memorials dedicated to individuals and groups connected with the Fylde Coast.

The walk will also highlight the important role that Blackpool played during the World Wars, including its use as a centre for military training, hospitals and convalescence, and as a place of refuge and support during wartime.

Along the route there will be opportunities to pause, reflect and hear short readings connected to remembrance and wartime experiences. The event offers visitors a chance to discover local history, honour those commemorated, and experience the arboretum as a living landscape of memory.

The walk is suitable for all ages and will follow accessible paths where possible.
