Architects and Architecture: walk

Pontefract Town Hall, 3 Bridge Street, Pontefract, West Yorkshire, WF8 1PG

  • 19 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

Join Pontefract Civic Society on an exploration of the architecture in Pontefract town centre. Hear about some of the architectural styles and architects that created the diverse range of buildings in the heart of the town.

Pontefract town centre's buildings have a range of architectural styles and influences, including the Medieval, Georgian, Queen Anne Revival, Art Deco, Art Nouveau and Brutalist.
We have had a wide variety of architects that have plied their trade in the town, some of high esteem and nationally recognised, some regional, others local, including a prolific pair. A DIY architect produced positive results, whilst we also had a nationally infamous one, well this is Pontefract.
Join us and together we will discover the buildings of Pontefract.
