Boundary House at 375 Rochester High Street is the former head office, and housewares and womenswear shop of the Featherstones Department Store. Prior to Featherstones taking over the building in the early 20th century, the site had been an Elizabethan Manor House, built by Sir John Hawkins. Some of the original house remains behind stud work walls. The boardroom of the department store features delightful painted wooden panels dating from c.1720. The foyer of the building has also been converted into a photographic gallery featuring many pictures from the High Street. We'll also be looking at the exterior of the building and explaining its link to the New Medway Steam Packet Company.
