Join The Bradford Police Museum on Saturday 13th September for a special day of free tours and a vintage police vehicle display, celebrating Bradford’s rich policing heritage as part of the national Heritage Open Days.

Step outside City Hall to see our impressive collection of historic police vehicles, including vintage patrol cars and motorcycles, giving a fascinating glimpse into how policing on the streets has changed through the decades.

Free Museum Tours – Book Online to Secure Your Place

For this special event, the Museum will be open for free guided tours, offering visitors the chance to explore the original Victorian courtroom, old police cells, and historic exhibits. Tours will run every hour from 10:30am, with five tours throughout the day.

Tour times: 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm

Tickets are free, but advance online booking is recommended to avoid disappointment as spaces are limited.

This is a fantastic opportunity for families, history enthusiasts, and curious visitors of all ages to experience Bradford’s policing past — both inside the museum and outside with our iconic vehicle display.

Directions:
The Museum is situated in the City Hall, Centenary Square, Bradford. There is a lift for wheelchair users in the entrance to the Museum, and much of the museum is wheelchair accessible. Please note there are no toilets in the museum so please make sure you visit the public toilets if necessary, in City Park. ​​ There is no parking onsite at The Bradford Police Museum, but there is plenty of parking nearby such as The Broadway, Kirkgate Car Park & NCP Bradford Southgate which are all within a 10-minute walk to the museum.

Accessibility details

There is a lift for wheelchair users in the entrance to the Museum, and much of the museum is wheelchair accessible. However the Museum is compact, with corridors and narrow spaces to navigate. The Gallery and Cells, which form part of the original 19th century Police Station, are on one level. There are steps up into the Court Room, but with care they are accessible. For those unable to climb steps we have had a DVD made of the visit to the Court room, please advise your guide upon arrival if the DVD if it is required.

During your visit, you will be guided around the museum by one or more of our experienced and knowledgeable volunteer tours guides. Our guides will show you the charge office, historic cells, and the fine Victorian courtroom, along with the main gallery which includes our current 'Diversity in Policing' Exhibition! ​ The duration of our tour is approximately 1 hour, however to allow for time in the gallery and questions, we advise you allow 2 hours for your visit.
