Explore Dobcroft Nature Reserve, once Cottam Brickworks, where history meets nature. Spot the rare Great Crested Newt as you wander through this reclaimed industrial site, now a haven of wildlife, heritage, and hidden architectural gems.

Discover the hidden heritage of Dobcroft Nature Reserve during this year’s Heritage Open Day, where the theme is Architecture. Once the site of the historic Cottam Brickworks, Dobcroft has been transformed from an industrial landscape into a thriving haven for wildlife and a peaceful green space for the local community. This special event offers a chance to explore the architectural legacy of the brickworks that once shaped the area, from the layout of the land to the remnants of old clay pits and structures that still hint at its industrious past.

Join us for interactive guided walks where you’ll hear stories of the people who worked at the brickworks and learn how the land was used during its industrial heyday. Engage with hands-on activities for all ages, from clay modelling inspired by traditional brickmaking techniques to nature-based crafts that celebrate the site's regeneration. Informative displays and interpretation boards will help bring the architectural and historical significance of the site to life.

Whether you're a history enthusiast, nature lover, or just curious about the area’s past, this is a unique opportunity to connect with the story of Dobcroft—where architecture, community, and nature come together. Come and see how the spirit of the brickworks still shapes the landscape today, and take part in preserving its legacy for future generations.
