British Newspaper Archive (BNA) Workshop in Stamford Library (In association with the Stamford Local History Society)

It is possible from the computers in Stamford Library (and other Lincolnshire Libraries) to access the online British Newspaper Archive (BNA). It is a great history research tool. And although the Newspaper Archive is a pay to view site, it is FREE in Stamford Library.
The range of regional papers spreads from Northern Scotland to South West England and the Island of Ireland. There are a number of national newspapers, such as the Daily Express (1900-1999), Daily Herald (1911-1964), Daily Mirror (1903-1999), Daily Record (1895-1999), Daily Telegraph (1855 to 1911), Daily Star (1978-1999), People, The (1881 to 1999), Sunday Express (1918-1999) and Sunday Mirror (1915-1999). This online archive also includes newspapers from countries which were once part of the British Empire/Commonwealth and in addition the site also includes trade papers and miscellaneous journals. For instance, Anti Corn-Law Circular (1839-1843), Bioscope (1908-1932), Cornish Times (1857-1964), Jackie (1964-1993), Football Post (Nottingham) (1903-1999), John o’Groat Journal (1836-1999), Railway Times (1837-1914), Pembrokeshire Herald (1854-1889), Sligo Champion (1836-2006), Times of India (1861-1888), TV Times (1955-1980), and Votes For Women (1907-1918), to name just a few. And includes the Stamford Mercury and other local newspapers.
