Capturing Old Shoreham – Everyday Histories in the Landscape
The Shoreham Centre, Pond Road, Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, BN43 5WU
Old Shoreham has been shaped by thousands of years of everyday life. People have crossed the River Adur, farmed the Downs, walked ancient paths, worshipped, worked and made their homes here. Much of that story is written into today's landscape—and is still being written.
Rather than telling a single story, the exhibition invites visitors to become explorers. Discover forgotten routes, changing settlements, wildlife habitats, local memories and hidden connections that reveal how ordinary lives have shaped this special place over centuries.
But this is not the end of the story. The exhibition is part of an ongoing community project to understand, celebrate and care for Old Shoreham. We hope it will encourage you to look differently at a familiar place, explore its landscapes for yourself, share your own memories and discoveries, and perhaps even get involved in shaping its future.
Whether you know Old Shoreham well or are visiting for the first time, you'll find new ways of seeing a familiar landscape.
