Discover the everyday working lives of people in the Parish of Timperley from farmers to Manchester businessmen and clergy to shopkeepers, and the importance of the church in changing times.

Christ Church is a Grade2 listed building built in 1849 in a wholly rural area. After the opening of the railway and from 1850 it changed radically and rapidly to a densely populated dormitory suburb with some industrial development. The role of the church became vital in providing and funding education, healthcare, assistance to the poor, financial planning and leisure pursuits long before governments stepped in. All of this work relied on the generosity of so many people and the time given by volunteers.
Did your family live and work in the parish? What did they do? Have you any information, pictures or stories to share?
Everyone is very welcome to join us for a cup of tea, cake and a chat.
