Cromer Pier & Pavilion Theatre - Backstage Tours
Cromer Pavilion Theatre, The Pier, Promenade, Cromer, Norfolk, NR27 9HE
Cromer Pier, the jewel of the Norfolk coast, celebrates its 125th Anniversary in 2026. Stretching 151 metres into the sea, this much-loved Victorian landmark has welcomed visitors for generations since officially opening in June 1901, complete with a bandstand at its head. In 1905, this was expanded into the Pavilion Theatre, now home to the world-famous Cromer Pier Show – the only remaining full-season end-of-pier variety show of its kind.
Named Pier of the Year by the National Piers Society in 2024, Cromer Pier continues to combine heritage, entertainment and timeless seaside charm.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Cromer Pier will also host exclusive backstage tours of the Pavilion Theatre. Guided by staff, small groups will explore the newly refurbished dressing rooms, hear stories from the theatre’s rich past, and enjoy a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of The Cromer Pier Show 2026.

The North Norfolk District Council pay and display disabled parking bays are located on promenade. Please visit their website for more information. Cromer Pier proudly welcomes dogs in all areas of the pier including Tides Bistro, Pavilion Bar, Gift Shop and Box Office. However, dogs are not permitted into the Pavilion Theatre, minus assistance dogs.
Alongside our backstage tours, visitors are also invited to step inside the Pavilion Theatre to enjoy a specially created short documentary for Heritage Open Days, narrated by Norfolk’s very own Olly Day. There will also be performances from the Cromer & Sheringham Brass Band on the pier to honour the pier’s historic beginnings, providing a celebratory soundtrack above the waves.
