Accessibility details

This is a 1920s signal box in the condition it was in the 1960s, and there is no provision for disabled access. The entrance to the grounds is down a slope and via steps: the entrance to the operating room of the signal box is via stairs. The ground can be damp and muddy, depending on the weather. Because of this, visitors are asked to obey instructions from volunteers for their own safety.

Additional information

This is the only signal box of its type in existence (Grade II listed), and is an early modern example of concrete block as a building material. It was used until 2000 to control trains between Cromer and Sheringham/North Walsham, the line is now controlled by Trowse Swing Bridge signal box in Norwich.
